Suomalainen Kirjakauppa, who’s has been managing the title of Finland’s largest bookstore chain since the 1990s, launched a concept redesign a couple of years ago that transformed their stores into inspiring and cozy, family-friendly places. The chain emphasizes Finnish suppliers and has chosen EWQ as their display supplier. Now digital displays are being used in stores all over Finland.
“We have been working with EWQ on DS displays for a few years now, we already have displays in over ten stores. The basics such as schedules, product quality and communication have been good. Also accepting development ideas and bouncing on new, and sometimes existing, possibilities is enriching content. The cooperation with the EWQ contact person, Teemu Takanen, has been fruitful and our content providers have gotten help either over the phone or on site”, says Ari Hokkanen, the Business Location Manager at Suomalainen Kirjakauppa.
"Digital signage and distinctive content generate growing positive attention and arouse activating interest in our concept. And we are getting more customer traffic!" Ari Hokkanen Business Location Manager Suomalainen Kirjakauppa
The relaxed feeling of the stores also known as booklovers living rooms is created by large DS screens with various content. The screens show quotes from famous authors, upcoming events with guest writers and book releases and of course current campaigns and offers for loyal customers. Content is centrally managed with a browser-based tool that ensures the right materials are shown in the right store at the right time. "Upgrading and deploying new software or technology features is smooth. This deployment has brought distinctive content to screens that generate growing positive attention and arouse activating interest in our concept. And we are getting more customer traffic!" Hokkanen already has plans for the future. "We're in the process of developing a mix of streamed video and audio on all or some of the DS displays!"
