EWQ publishes 2025 Sustainability Report based on VSME standard
EWQ has published its 2025 Sustainability Report, bringing together the key themes, actions, and progress of its sustainability work, as well as how environmental and social responsibility, and good governance are integrated into everyday operations and business activities. The purpose of the report is to provide clear, comparable, and reliable information on the progress of our sustainability efforts. We monitor the objectives of our sustainability programme through selected indicators that support performance evaluation and continuous improvement.
The sustainability report is based on the comprehensive module of the voluntary sustainability reporting standard for non-listed SMEs (VSME).
A year of sustainability in action
2025 was a significant year of progress in our sustainability journey. We achieved both ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certifications without any non-conformities, reinforcing the quality and systematic nature of our operations. In addition, we attained Gold status in the EcoVadis assessment, placing EWQ among the top 5% of companies evaluated worldwide.
In our climate work, we took concrete steps by supporting verified emission reduction projects implemented in Finland and retiring 73 tonnes of climate units. We also expanded our offering of product-specific carbon footprint calculations, helping our customers advance their own sustainability goals. Internally, we further improved our operations by transitioning our service vehicle fleet to lower-emission hybrid vehicles and continued supporting communities through donations and other initiatives.
During the year, we placed particular emphasis on developing our emissions accounting processes. Our calculations now cover approximately 90% of value chain emissions (Scope 3), improving transparency and enabling more effective targeting of emission reduction measures. At the same time, we developed solutions that reduce material consumption and support the transition to digital, more resource-efficient operating models. We also strengthened responsible supply chain management through risk assessments and supplier audits.
Alongside these development initiatives, we continued to support local communities through donations and other forms of engagement.
Building sustainability together with our stakeholders
The publication of our sustainability report is an important and concrete step towards our goal of becoming an even more responsible partner. Through the report, we make our work more transparent, monitor our own progress, and openly share both our achievements and future objectives with our stakeholders. At the same time, we aim to encourage our customers, partners, and wider network to join us on the continuous journey towards sustainable development.
Our reporting also supports our customers in their own sustainability needs, such as meeting the requirements of the CSRD Directive, where reliable and comparable data plays an increasingly central role.
Reporting in accordance with the VSME standard
Our sustainability report has been prepared in accordance with the comprehensive module of the voluntary sustainability reporting standard for non-listed SMEs (VSME), developed by EFRAG. We have also supplemented the report with information beyond the standard in order to better meet the needs of our stakeholders. The reporting period covers 1 January to 31 December 2025, and the report was approved by EWQ’s board of directors on 29 May 2026.
We selected the VSME framework because it provides a clear and practical way to structure sustainability work and reporting. It helps us identify and manage ESG risks, particularly within the value chain, and respond more effectively to the increasing sustainability requirements of our stakeholders.
